She walks into Macy’s with her earbuds playing Christmas cheer, her jacket pockets filled to the brim with peanut M&Ms and a wicked cold causing havoc in her head and on her face. One eye is puffed up and half way closed, her nose is red as the bulbs on the mall Christmas tree and her chapped lips are smeared from here to there with medicated lip balm.
This woman though, she FEELS beautiful because she is on a Christmas date with Jesus.
I Peter 3:4 “Your beauty should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
They are window shopping for a new set of pots and pans. The ones her ex-husband bought her many years ago are worn out, and she’s tired of looking at them. Together they walk passed the make up and perfume counters and step on the escalator. She holds on to the rail with one hand and pops several M&Ms in her mouth with the other. He smiles to Himself. He knows they are her favorite candy on the whole planet.
He KNOWS everything about her.
They get off the escalator and head to their destination. She stops to look at some discount ornaments and muses over them.
He HEARS her every thought.
Psalm 139:4 “You know everything I’m going to say before I start a sentence.”
And He answers her in her Spirit. They have a private conversation like a couple in love. It’s between them and only for them. She chews on more holiday M&Ms. David Crowder is singing O Holy Night in her ears, and she listens with her heart. Her soul feels its worth.
They reach their destination. She looks at the vast assortment of choices and reads price tags. She likes the copper ones. She wonders if owning such a nice set would help her enjoy cooking. He tells her He will help her enjoy the task of meal preparation. More candies in her mouth and more words of love from her Christmas date.
She tells Him her word for 2017 is “LOVE.” She wants to experience and give love like she has never known. He loves that about her.
He LOVES everything about her.
Romans 5:8 I loved you at your darkest.”
Her nose starts running, and her mouth is full of chocolate and peanuts. Her eyes water. Such a mess. She gulps down water just in time to sneeze three times.
He PULLS her in close.
Psalm 145:18, “The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.”
Francesca Battistelli comes on her Pandora station. He is Here plays into her heart. She watches as He changes her world.
She tires of the kitchen department and they head to bedding. She takes in the overwhelming selection of bedroom sets. Some she finds hideous and gaudy. Others she finds lovely and dainty.
He FINDS her lovely.
Song of Solomon 4:7, “You are all together beautiful, there is no flaw in you.”
Her pockets are empty, and she is feeling a bit sickly from the over indulgence of her treat. They make their way back to the escalator and out into the world together.
Matthew 28:20, “And remember, I am with you always until the end of the age.”
He accepts her and loves her wholly and tenderly. She believes in Him.
Luke 1:45, “And blessed is she that believed…”
With all my love and best Christmas wishes,
